In late October 2024, social media users shared a rumor that the Quaker Oats Co. had announced plans for the name and image of Aunt Jemima to return to syrup bottles in 2025.

For example, the Facebook page America’s Last Line of Defense claimed (archived) on Oct. 20: “Boycotts work! Quaker has announced that Aunt Jemima will be back on syrup bottles in 2025.”
However, there is no credible evidence to support this claim. Quaker Oats, which is owned by PepsiCo, retired the Aunt Jemima brand in 2021, replacing it with the Pearl Milling Company name and logo. The decision was part of a broader corporate effort to remove racial stereotypes from branding.
As of early 2025, neither Quaker Oats nor PepsiCo has made any official announcements regarding the return of the Aunt Jemima name or image. The rumor appears to have originated from satirical or misleading social media posts, including those from pages known for publishing misinformation.

The Facebook page “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which initially spread the claim, is known for posting politically charged satire. While some social media users believed the post to be true, others pointed out that the page frequently shares exaggerated or false claims for engagement.
A search of Quaker Oats’ official website and social media pages reveals no indication of any plans to reinstate the Aunt Jemima branding. Additionally, major news outlets have not reported any such development.
The rebranding to Pearl Milling Company was met with mixed reactions, with some consumers supporting the change and others expressing nostalgia for the previous branding. However, Quaker Oats maintained that the move was a step toward greater inclusivity.

For now, it appears that the rumor of Aunt Jemima’s return is just that—a rumor. Social media users are encouraged to verify claims through credible sources before sharing them.
