Kristin Cabot – The HR Director at the Center of a Scandal at the Coldplay Concert – Revealed to Be the Daughter-in-Law of America’s Powerful Cabot Family

Kristin Cabot, the HR director at tech company Astronomer, whose intimate moment with her superior is currently “breaking the internet,” is reportedly married to Andrew Cabot, owner of the Privateer Rum brand and a sixth-generation descendant of the Cabot family—one of America’s oldest and wealthiest dynasties.

According to social media posts, Andrew Cabot is currently running Privateer Rum, a historic New England rum brand. A 1972 New York Times article estimated the Cabot family’s fortune at around $200 million at the time—equivalent to $15.4 billion (about VND 402 trillion) in today’s value.

It’s unclear when Kristin and Andrew got married, but it is reported that this is the second marriage for both. Kristin previously finalized a divorce in 2022.

Kristin Cabot’s now-deleted LinkedIn profile once listed her as an “advisory board member” at Privateer Rum since September 2020. Property records also show that the couple purchased a $2.2 million (about VND 57 billion) coastal mansion in New Hampshire earlier this year.

The Cabot family is known as part of the “Boston Brahmin”—the elite, wealthy, and long-established class that has dominated New England for centuries. This Anglo-Saxon upper class has been wealthy for generations—to the point that even the Irish-Catholic Kennedy family was considered “outsiders” among them.

A famous satirical rhyme about Boston once said:

“And this is good old Boston,

The home of the bean and the cod,

Where the Lowells speak only to Cabots,

And the Cabots speak only to God.”

The Cabot family’s original wealth came from the “carbon black” industry—a key material in tire manufacturing—and maritime trade in the 19th century, which included the slave and opium trades, according to historical records.

Within the family, Samuel Cabot is believed to have kickstarted the dynasty’s fortune by marrying Eliza Perkins, the daughter of a wealthy merchant of the time. Over the decades, Cabot family members continued to expand their influence into various industries, including the rum business.

Additionally, the Cabot family has a tradition of contributing to top educational institutions such as Harvard University, MIT, Norwich University, and the Perkins School for the Blind.

Francis Cabot, a family member based in New York, once candidly stated: “My family has had two main concerns throughout its history: one is marrying rich women, the other is… singing in choirs.”

It can be said that the scandal between Kristin Cabot and Astronomer CEO Andy Byron—caught on the big screen at a Coldplay concert—has shocked not only the tech world but also drawn attention to one of America’s most prestigious families.

The fact that Kristin, a woman who is the daughter-in-law of a family tied to Harvard and “only speaks to God,” has become the central figure in a workplace morality scandal has surprised many. While Andy Byron has resigned as CEO amid an internal investigation, the future of Kristin Cabot—both her career and personal reputation—remains a big question mark.
