With less than a minute of game time remaining in the Indiana Fever’s game against the Connecticut Sun, Sun guard Jacy Sheldon was driving to the basket on Fever standout Sophie Cunningham.
As Sheldon was gathering to shoot a layup, Cunningham used her arms to wrap her up around her neck area and drag her down to the ground.
All hell broke loose.
Sheldon went to grab Cunningham, but she got her hair pulled as Sophie talked trash to her.
As a result of this exchange, Cunningham, Sheldon, and Allen were all ejected from the game.
This altercation had been boiling all game long with the hard hits Caitlin Clark had endured.
The initial issues occurred in the third quarter of Tuesday’s game when Clark was hit with a hard foul against Connecticut’s Jacy Sheldon. She pushed her and quickly found herself on the ground due to a push from Marina Mabrey.
We are now seeing fan video from the stands that shows Sophie Cunningham being ejected during that altercation.

She wasn’t in the game at the time of the shove, but she tried to insert herself by running on the court. Luckily, a coach held onto her and made sure that did not happen.

Tuesday’s matchup between the Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun was a testy affair.
Sophie Cunningham was ejected for what was deemed an unsportsmanlike foul on Sheldon. As Sheldon was gathering to shoot a layup, Cunningham used her arms to wrap her up around her neck area.
Connecticut Sun head coach Rachid Meziane said, “I did not understand [Cunningham’s foul]. When you are winning a game by 17 points and you doing this, to me, stupid foul, this is just disrespectful and I don’t know how Jacy and Lindsay [got] ejected from the game when they did nothing.”
“For me, it’s just disrespectful to do that foul when you are winning the game by 17 points. Completely stupid,” he added.
