Cameras caught Los Angeles Sparks star Rickea Jackson using a hilarious maneuver to break up a skirmish between teammate Kelsey Plum and Chicago Sky guard Kia Nurse in Sunday’s game.

With the Sparks trailing by 11 points late in the fourth quarter, Plum attempted to possess the ball while defending against Ariel Atkins. Nurse stepped in and tried wrestling the ball away from Plum, leading to a small skirmish.

Not wanting her teammate to get called for a foul, Rickea Jackson grabbed Kelsey Plum from behind and carried her away, as if the latter were a child in trouble:

Well, that’s certainly one of making sure the little skirmish doesn’t escalate. Good on Rickea Jackson for breaking it up and ensuring her teammate didn’t get in any trouble amid a frustrating defeat.

Led by Angel Reese’s double-double (24 points and 16 points) and Ariel Atkins’ 20 points, the Sky won 92-85 to improve to 5-11 on the season. Jackson had six points in the loss, and Plum finished with a team-high 22 points.

The loss dropped the struggling Sparks to 5-12 on the season, highlighted by a woeful 1-8 mark at home. WIth the win, Reese and the Sky are now 2.5 behind the Washington Mystics for the final playoff spot.
